« 今年の防寒対策 | トップページ | つくばに引っ越し » 2011年03月10日ノンパラメトリックベイズの勉強会合宿昨年11月から毎週1回程度行われているノンパラメトリックベイズ勉強会がおおいに盛り上がり、ついに合宿が開催された。 「先端的機械学習セミナー」という名前までつけて、愛知県の知多半島まで行って二泊三日、ひたすら輪講と論文紹介を行うという会である。
12名の参加があり、皆さんのモチベーションが非常に高く、本当に三日間会議室に缶詰状態で勉強した。 ガウス過程やノンパラメトリックベイズに関する輪講や論文紹介を朝から晩まで行う。 僕は測度論について5時間ほどレクチャーして、大変楽しかった。 かんぽの宿は海沿いに立っており、まわりに何の店もなく、夏の間は海水浴客で賑わうという海岸では海苔がひたすら干されていて、ある意味ストイックな環境であったのも良かったかもしれない。 魚を中心とした料理も大変おいしく、温泉まであり、親睦も深められてとても良かった。 モチベーションの高い人間が集まればこういう会も開催できるということは非常に良い経験にもなった。

Waking up being informed that this huge earthquake and Tsunami hit Japan Friday....(I did not know until this Friday morning here, due to my work.)
It was surreal for me to be informed and see all the images online...
Are you guys ok?

Yoko is being missing for a full day now since she happened to go for her business meeting in the downtown Tokyo Friday. (I spoke with my brother.)
If you have any update regarding her or my relatives, let me know.
I hope you guys are all ok....

I'm okay here in Shiga, and so is my family.
My mom had to spend a night in the downtown Tokyo too.
Haven't heard about Yoko and her family yet. Sorry.
